About
I’m a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Engineering Science and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Auckland.
I completed my PhD at Auckland, working jointly between the Auckland Bioengineering Institute and the Department of Mathematics on mathematical models of epithelial transport. I then held a postdoctoral position at the Wolfson Centre for Mathematical Biology in Oxford’s Mathematical Institute, where I developed my interest in connecting mathematical models with data.
Since returning to New Zealand, I have continued to work on biological modelling and connecting models to data, while broadening my interests to include applications like geothermal reservoir modelling, composite materials and disease dynamics. In 2019, I received the Faculty of Engineering’s James and Hazel D. Lord Emerging Faculty Fellowship. I was also part of the team awarded the 2020 Prime Minister’s Science Prize for work on Aotearoa New Zealand’s COVID-19 response.
